A six-week reflective course for parents of babies and young children
There is another way.
Advice comes from every direction. Books, podcasts, social media, family, friends and experts all offer their own answers. It can become difficult to hear your own.
Holding the Balance is an invitation to slow down.
Not because there is one right way to parent, but because when we slow down, we begin to notice more. We see our children differently. We begin to understand ourselves differently too.
In that space, something begins to shift.
A different way of seeing
We cannot always change what our children experience, but we can change how we see them. And when the way we see changes, the relationship often changes too.
This course is inspired by the work of Dr Emmi Pikler and rooted in a deep respect for babies and young children as capable, unique human beings from the very beginning of life.
Together we explore everyday moments.
Movement
Play
Care
Communication
Boundaries
Not as separate topics, but as parts of a relationship that is unfolding every day.
Rather than offering rules or techniques, the course invites curiosity.
What is my child telling me?
What happens when I wait?
What changes when I observe before I act?
Often the answers are quieter than we expect.
Finding balance
Balance is not something we achieve once and keep forever.
It is something we keep returning to.
Balancing guidance with trust.
Supporting without taking over.
Caring for our children while caring for ourselves.
Holding knowledge lightly while remaining open to what this particular child is showing us.
Parenting asks this of us every day.
Perhaps balance is not the destination.
Perhaps it is the practice.
Over six weeks
Each week opens another window into your relationship with your child.
Slowing Down — Creating space to notice.
Respectful Care — Discovering the relationship within everyday moments.
Freedom of Movement — Trusting children's competence and their own inner wisdom.
Play — Understanding the richness of uninterrupted exploration.
Boundaries — Finding balance between freedom, connection and responsibility.
Holding the Balance — Bringing everything together as your understanding continues to grow.
What parents often tell me
Many parents arrive hoping for answers.
What they often discover is something different.
They speak about feeling calmer.
More confident.
More connected to their child.
More able to trust their own observations.
And, perhaps unexpectedly, freer to be themselves as parents. This echoes the reflections shared by parents after the course, including feeling "freer" and more confident in their own way of parenting.
Is this course for me?
Perhaps.
If you are longing to step away from the pressure of trying to parent perfectly...
If you would like to understand your child more deeply...
If you enjoy thoughtful conversation and gentle reflection...
If you are curious about respectful relationships and the Pikler approach...
Then you may feel at home here.
No previous knowledge is needed.
Only curiosity.
An invitation
Children grow.
Parents grow too.
Holding the Balance offers time and space to slow down, to observe with fresh eyes, and to discover a way of being with your child that feels thoughtful, respectful and authentically your own.
I'd love to welcome you.
